- Only in a specific gear: May indicate a transmission or CV (constant velocity) joint issue.

Pulling: Sudden vs. Gradual
A car that drifts or pulls to one side without input from you has an imbalance in force — something is pushing or slowing one side more than the other. The distinction between sudden and gradual onset matters:

Wobbles: Front vs. Rear, and What Each Means
A wobble — sometimes described as a shimmy or an unstable rocking sensation — has a distinct quality compared to vibration. It often feels like the car is slightly out of control laterally, rather than simply buzzing through the wheel.
Where you feel the wobble is the most useful diagnostic clue:
- Steering wheel wobble at low speed: Commonly caused by damaged or unevenly worn tires, or loose lug nuts.
