Meet The New Jeep Grand Cherokee – What You Need To Know

Look out SUV lovers, the fifth generation Grand Cherokee is here! Its incredible array of technologically advanced features and an off-road experience like no other makes it the most luxurious Cherokee to be offered by Jeep. Here’s a closer look at how the new Grand Cherokee is leading Jeep to a new chapter of refinement and innovation.

Trims & models:

Jeep has added another option to its Grand Cherokee lineup by introducing the first electrified model. The plug-in hybrid will have five trim levels, while the traditional gasoline-only powertrain will have seven trim levels.

The Grand Cherokee 4xe will have a water-sealed battery pack, an all-electric drive mode, an estimated 57 MPGe, and an ability to tow up to 6,000 pounds.

For those who want to go off the beaten path, Jeep has revamped its Trailhawk model to be the best version yet. It offers up to 11.3 inches of ground clearance, improved approach, departure, and break-over angles, plus an active transfer case with a rear eLSD for incredible traction.

The exterior & interiors:

This Grand Cherokee is the sleekest yet, thanks to slim, sculpted details. An iconic grille fills out a wider front fascia. The roofline has been lowered and tapered, while the beltline has been moved down a bit so that windows can let in more natural light and allow for improved outward visibility.

The Grand Cherokee’s interior is just as sleek as its exterior, with slim A/C vents, a streamlined center console, and multiple digital screens. If you’re all about entertainment, the Grand Cherokee can be configured to include a 10.25-inch front passenger interactive display and a new high-definition rear-seat entertainment system with Amazon FireTV built in.

Off-roading experience:

To give you the best performance off the beaten path, Grand Cherokee comes with three different four-wheel-drive systems: Quadra-Trac 1, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. The first two systems feature an active transfer case that can send torque to wheels with the most traction, while the latter offers a rear electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) for advanced traction. Jeep’s Quadra-Lift air suspension gives you 11.3 inches of ground clearance and up to 24 inches of water fording capability—and this system automatically optimizes its behavior based on road conditions or can be manually set to five presets by you.

And, of course, we can’t ignore the award-winning Selec-Terrain traction management system. Selec-Terrain coordinates 4×4 torque split, steering and suspension systems, stability control, and more to deliver confident driving dynamics for paved or unpaved surfaces. It offers five modes: Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Mud/Sand.

Safety features:

Every Grand Cherokee has over 110 active and passive safety features, obviously too many to list here. But the highlights—standard across the lineup—include:

A safe driving experience with Full-Speed Collision Warning with Active Braking, Pedestrian/Cyclist Detection, and more.

A comfortable drive with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go. Easy navigation in traffic with Active Lane Management, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist & Advanced Brake Assist.

Depending on individual needs, drivers can add a night vision camera with pedestrian and animal detection, intersection collision assist, drowsy driver detection system, parallel and perpendicular park assist, and a new Active Driving Assist.
