Pros and Cons of the Chevrolet Tahoe

The Chevy Tahoe has always been a heavy-hitter in the SUV world and is one of the few truck-based options still available on the market, giving it a few unique advantages. However, it also has a few drawbacks, so it’s worth knowing if the new Tahoe is worth bringing home.

Below are some things we like about the Tahoe

Passenger and Cargo Space

The Tahoe can seat up to eight people with enough space in the third row, making this SUV the perfect choice for growing families or those who carpool. The Tahoe is undeniably practical and is a class leader in cargo space, with a spacious 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row.

Towing Capacity

When equipped well, the new ChevyTahoe can tow up to 8,400 lbs. Several standard towing features can also be added to any Tahoe trim, including hitch guidance using the rearview camera and trailer sway control.

Diesel Engine

Often, SUVs do not have options for those that prefer diesel engines. Luckily, the latest Tahoe comes with a hearty 3.0L six-cylinder diesel option that saves money at the pumps, and while it makes only 277 hp, it also creates 460 lb-ft of torque.

Expensive Trims

Usually, higher trim levels cost more than the lower ones, sometimes by a significant amount. The top models of the Chevy Tahoe still have price tags that rival some luxury SUVs, and buyers with that kind of budget may want to shop around and see if they find an SUV with a more luxurious cabin and a smoother ride for the same price.

Rides like a Truck

One of the downsides of the body-on-frame style of the Tahoe is its ride quality which drivers will find quite stiff. Most of the bumps on the road are felt inside the cabin, and buyers can opt for the available air suspension to fix this. This also helps give the Tahoe a maximum ground clearance of 10-inches, rather than just the standard 8-inches.

Overall, the new Chevrolet Tahoe is a perfect choice for a family SUV since the cargo and passenger space make it appealing. Its long list of safety and technology features also adds to the list of pros. However, the V8 engine may be a concern among potential buyers for its lack of fuel efficiency.

If the Tahoe suits your needs, you won’t find a pickup better than this.
