The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has great off-roading capabilities, is fuel-efficient, and has luxury interiors to die for. We’ve rounded up five important facts about the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. Read on.
It has the most powerful engine
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an electric motor that boasts 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Just to compare, the standard Grand Cherokee engine is a 3.6-liter V6 unit that generates 293 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. You could upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8 engine for 357 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. The downside is that the 4xe can only tow up to 6,000 lbs, while other gas-powered models have towing capabilities of up to 7,200 lbs.
You’ll need to get accustomed to the ‘max regen’ setting
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe runs on both gas and electricity. However, it can also run only on gas. If you’re driving on gas and you brake, the braking sends energy to the batteries, and you have to use the max regeneration mode to harvest more power. This takes getting used to. The max regen mode makes the brakes sensitive, leading to sudden jerking stops. This setting also instantly slows down the car. Practice keeping your foot on the accelerator to keep up with traffic.
The plush carpets in the Overland aren’t super practical
All features aside, the luxury interiors on the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Overland take the cake. This trim level boasts ambient lighting, wood trim, and carpeting on the sides. Even the center console is carpeted! It looks great but is bad news for coffee spills or wet or muddy gear in the cargo hold.
It’s fuel-efficient
This model has an electric range of 25 miles on a single charge. If you’re driving on gas, you can average around 19 mpg. The regenerative brakes also do a good job of returning energy, making this car pretty fuel efficient.
The SUV boasts superior tech upgrades
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe adjusts air suspension based on your driving mode to give you optimum ground clearance and aerodynamics for road conditions. The HDMI port on the front passenger screen allows riders to access navigation and even take care of their entertainment. The night vision cameras and the weather maps make driving safer too.
