Everything You Should Know About the New Chevy Colorado

Chevy has over a century of experience making some of the most dependable and technologically advanced cars. Their vehicles have won over car enthusiasts from coast to coast. Does the new, long-awaited Chevy Colorado continue this tradition? Continue reading to find out.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The Chevy Colorado offers some excellent engine options, including:

– a base four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic transmission,

– a speedy 308-hp 3.6-liter V-6 with an eight-speed automatic, and

– a 2.8-liter diesel four-cylinder.

The four-cylinder engine is weak, but the V-6 and diesel are strong performers.

Towing and payload capacity

When equipped with the Trailering Equipment package, the Colorado can tow up to 7,000 pounds with its V-6 and 7700 pounds with its diesel engine. Without that package, the Colorado can haul up to 3,500 pounds with its four-cylinder engine. Trailer-sway control is standard on all Colorados.

Fuel economy

The Colorado’s four-cylinder engine gets up to 19 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. The V-6 gets up to 18 mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. The rear-drive diesel estimates 20 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway.

Interiors

The Colorado features a spacious cockpit with comfortable seats and plenty of legroom. However, it may be hard to fit more than two people in the back seat. Interior materials look cheap, as do some of the finishes and trim pieces. The center console is deep and can hold quite a bit. There is also a large area under the rear seat for storage. The Colorado comes with two cargo beds: a short bed that measures 41 cubic feet and a long bed that measures 50 cubic feet.

Infotainment and connectivity

Equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot, two intuitive touchscreens, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system, the Colorado continues to lead in infotainment features. The base truck features a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth audio streaming for two devices, Android Auto capability, and Apple CarPlay. All other models have an 8.0-inch display with user-friendly menus and responsive touch functions that let you stay connected easily.

Safety features

The Chevy Silverado lacks many of the available driver-assistance technologies that are now commonplace features on rival pickups. Key safety features include lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and rear parking sensors.

Warranty

Chevrolet’s Colorado comes with a competitive limited and powertrain warranty. The limited warranty covers the first three years or 36,000 miles, while the powertrain warranty is good for five years or 60,000 miles. Chevy also offers complimentary maintenance for the first visit.
