The new Toyota Tundra has been revamped, keeping the needs of truck buyers in mind. Here are the ten things you need to know about the truck.
Global F-Platform:
The Toyota Tundra and the Land Cruiser, Lexus LX, and Toyota compact vehicles now share the same Toyota New Global Architecture Platform.
Towing:
The Toyota Tundra is a premium towing machine that offers unparalleled towing capabilities. Its drivers will enjoy the confidence it offers them.
Testing:
Toyota wanted to ensure that the Tacoma was a capable machine. To this end, it was tested in low altitude, high altitude, heavy snow, and a variety of extreme conditions.
Power:
Most trucks pack serious power under the hood. Toyota went all out to deliver the most power and performance by giving the Tundra a drivetrain that’s 140% the size of its competitors. The only engine available is a twin-turbo V6 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that develops 348hp in the base SR trim or 389hp in other non-hybrid trims. The hybrid motor combined with the V6 churns out 437hp, which takes its 0-60mph time down to 5.7 seconds!
Economy:
The Toyota Tundra engine churns out the best-ever torque output. It has the power to match too. But along with all the muscle, the Tundra also offers maximum fuel economy.
Luxury:
Toyota benchmarked the Tundra against premium luxury vehicles, and as a result, the Tundra offers the same high level of quality.
Aerodynamics:
It sounds unusual, but a truck can feature innovative aerodynamics. This one has an active air dam that moves in and out as needed. Drivers can enjoy the benefits of enhanced aerodynamics when needed and increased off-road capability when they don’t need it.
Protection:
The Toyota Tundra features a skid plate made of ballistic nylon. This means it can’t be ripped off the truck or get dented into the oil pan even if Tundra owners tried to make it happen.
Deck:
The Toyota Tundra features a composite deck. This means no dents, no rust, and easy repairs in case of damage. The new composite deck is a significantly smarter choice than the traditional steel bed.
All these updates are a result of Toyota listening to feedback from customers and redesigning the Tundra with its consumers in mind. This move helped Toyota develop one of the best trucks available on the market today.
